Heavy Duty Electric Scooter for Adults (2026): Four Rated for 286 to 330 lb
A heavy duty scooter is about the weight rating, the motor and the brakes, not the word on the box. Four picks with real prices and the catch on each.
By the ScooterBroker team · Updated
Short answer: for most heavy riders on a budget, the isinwheel GT1 Dual is the cheapest scooter here rated for 330 lb, with two motors for hills, at about $600 on Amazon. If you want a big name, better brakes and more speed, the Segway SuperScooter GT3 is also rated for 330 lb and was at its lowest Amazon price in 90 days when we checked. Both are heavy to lift: 73 and 87 lb.

What heavy duty actually means
Any seller can put heavy duty in a listing title. Four specs tell you if it is true. First, the maker's max load: for a heavy rider, look for 300 lb or more, and count your bag. Second, the motor: two motors, or one motor with a high peak rating, keep a heavy rider moving up hills instead of crawling. Third, the brakes: a heavier load needs more stopping power, so look for disc brakes front and rear, ideally hydraulic. Fourth, the tires and suspension: 10 inches or bigger, with suspension at both ends, so the frame is not taking every bump.
1. Weight rating, with a margin
Do not buy a scooter rated for exactly what you weigh. Riding at the limit costs range and speed, and wears brakes, tires and the folding joint faster. Add your bag and at least 25 lb on top. Three picks here are rated for 330 lb, so they suit riders up to about 280 lb with a bag. The Max G3 Plus is rated for 286 lb, which suits riders up to about 250 lb with a bag. Our heavy-rider picker does this sum for you.
2. Range: expect about half
Makers measure range with a lighter rider, slowly, on flat ground. EMOVE says its 2026 figures use a 200 lb rider, which is more honest than most, and a heavier rider will still get less. Segway lists the Max G3 Plus at 56 miles in its slowest mode but about 22 miles at full speed. Plan on half the claim, and pick a scooter whose claim is at least twice your round trip.
3. You will not carry these far
Heavy duty scooters are heavy. The three 330 lb picks weigh 73 to 87 lb. They fold, but folding means fitting in a trunk or a corner, not carrying up stairs. If you live in a walk-up, the 55.6 lb Max G3 Plus is the most you would want to lift, and our foldable scooter guide covers lighter scooters rated to 265 lb.
4. Brakes and tires
The GT3 and the Cruiser V2 use hydraulic brakes, which need less hand force to stop a heavy load. The GT1 Dual and the Max G3 Plus use mechanical disc brakes, plus motor braking on the GT1 Dual. All four have tires of 10 inches or more, and the Segways and the EMOVE use self-sealing tubeless tires, so a small puncture does not leave you walking.
The picks
Amazon prices are from Keepa's 90-day price history on October 9, 2026. We say for each one whether that was a good price. The EMOVE is not sold on Amazon; its price is from the maker's dealer store the same day.

isinwheel GT1 Dual
Who it is for: Heavy riders who want two motors and a 330 lb rating for the least money. Two 800W motors, 32 mph top speed, up to 35 miles claimed from a 624Wh battery, 10-inch off-road tires and suspension at both ends.
The real downside: A 624Wh battery is small for a 73 lb scooter with a heavy rider, so treat 35 miles as closer to 15 to 20. Brakes are mechanical discs, not hydraulic. It is a smaller brand than Segway, and the maker's own store showed it sold out the day we checked, so you are relying on Amazon sellers.
Usually $600 to $620 on Amazon, from other sellers (checked Oct 2026). It was at the bottom of that range, $599.99, its lowest in the last 90 days. · checked October 9, 2026

Segway SuperScooter GT3
Who it is for: Heavy riders who want a fast, well-braked scooter from the biggest brand here. Rated for 330 lb, 31 mph, 45 miles claimed from an 899Wh battery, a 2400W peak motor, 11-inch tires, hydraulic suspension and hydraulic disc brakes. IPX6 water rating.
The real downside: At 87 lb it is the heaviest pick by far; you will roll it, not carry it. It has one motor, so on very steep hills a heavy rider may still slow down. Segway's store does not ship it to New York State.
Usually $1,400 to $1,700 on Amazon (checked Oct 2026). It was $1,399.99, its lowest in the last 90 days; it sat at $1,700 for three stretches in that period. · checked October 9, 2026

EMOVE Cruiser V2
Who it is for: Heavy riders with a long commute. Rated for 330 lb with the longest claimed range here, up to 62 miles from a large 30Ah battery, plus suspension at all four corners, hybrid hydraulic brakes, self-sealing 10-inch tires and handlebars that rise to 56 inches for tall riders.
The real downside: One 1000W motor, so it is the weakest climber of the 330 lb picks. A dual-motor version costs more and weighs 85 lb. Some buyers say the suspension is too soft for heavier riders. Not on Amazon, so this link earns us nothing.
$1,199 at VORO Motors, the EMOVE dealer, in stock on October 9, 2026 (list price $1,699). · checked October 9, 2026

Segway Ninebot Max G3 Plus
Who it is for: Riders up to about 250 lb who need to lift the scooter sometimes. At 55.6 lb it is far lighter than the others, with a 2200W peak motor, 28 mph, front and rear hydraulic suspension, 11-inch self-sealing tires and 140 mm ventilated disc brakes.
The real downside: Rated for 286 lb, not 300, so it is not for the heaviest riders. Its 56-mile claim is at its slowest speed; Segway's own figure at full speed is about 22 miles.
Usually $1,150 to $1,300 on Amazon (checked Oct 2026). It was $1,199.99, in the middle of that range. · checked October 9, 2026

How we picked
- Rated by the maker for riders of at least 285 lb, with tires of 10 inches or more and disc brakes.
- Sold new in the US on the day we checked, with a 90-day Amazon price history we could read, or in stock on the maker's store. That ruled out the Hiboy Titan (no Amazon price since September), the Segway Max G3 (unavailable on Amazon), the Gotrax Atlas and Segway GT1P and GT2P (no price history on the listings we found), and the Gotrax GX1 (sold out at Gotrax).
- We left out the single-motor isinwheel GT1 in favour of the GT1 Dual, which adds a second motor for hills for about $100 more.
- Specs from each maker's page where it could be read. Segway's pages load their spec tables by script, so for the two Segways we used Segway's published spec sheet as listed by retailers, and say so in our sources.
Questions people ask
What is the best electric scooter for a 300 lb person?
Look for a maker rating of 330 lb or more, so you keep a margin with a bag. Of the scooters we checked, the isinwheel GT1 Dual is the cheapest at that rating, and the Segway GT3 and EMOVE Cruiser V2 cost more but add hydraulic brakes. Our heavy-rider picker also shows scooters rated to 330 lb.
Do heavy duty electric scooters go slower with a heavy rider?
Yes. Top speed on flat ground often holds, but hills, acceleration and range all drop as the load goes up. Two motors or a high peak rating help most on hills.
How much does a heavy duty electric scooter weigh?
Scooters rated for 300 lb and more usually weigh 70 to 100 lb. The three 330 lb picks here weigh 73 to 87 lb. The lightest pick, the Max G3 Plus at 55.6 lb, is rated for 286 lb.
Is it safe to ride a scooter over its weight limit?
No. Over the limit, brakes take longer to stop you, and the frame, folding joint and tires wear faster. Pick a scooter rated for your weight plus your bag plus a margin.
